The lower basket measures approx. 6.7 inches high. Finally, the main basket and chain, to the top of the rim, can only measure 16.1 inches high.

The official disc golf organization, The Professional Disc Golf Association or PDGA, does set a rule for the minimum number of chains only. You need to have a minimum of 12 outer, or up and down, chains.
The minimum number of inner or side to side chains is set at 6. Anything less than these numbers may allow the frisbee to sneak inside the rim without going through the top opening.

You may not have the room in your yard to lay out an official sized course with official sized baskets. One way to solve this problem is to construct a mini disc golf course.
The baskets can either be 13 or 26 inches high. The rim is not going to be about half the size or less than the official sized rim. The chains still do not reach the floor of the lower basket which is just a little larger than the rim above.
The sizes of these parts of the basket depend on the height of the basket.
